CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS NOW TO SAVE HOUSING FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES!!!
The U.S. House of Representatives passed its bill to fund housing programs yesterday and President Bush has pledged to veto this bill because he believes it provides too much money for low-income housing. If we don't organize support for housing low-income families, we are at risk of losing the minimal housing resources we have today!
25,000 families will be at risk of losing their Section 8 Vouchers!
Public Housing would be severely underfunded, putting communities at risk of being torn apart and residents at risk of displacement!
500,000 Project-Based Section 8 homes stand to be lost!
Approximately 2,800 affordable homes for people with disabilities and seniors could be lost!
Significant community resources, such as Community Development Block Grant and funding for Housing Counseling, would be drastically reduced!
Call today to make sure that your Congressperson is in support of housing for low-income families. Call 1-877-210-5351 and demand that your Congressperson's office commit to override the President's veto!
Please respond to this email with the outcome of your call so we can track who is committed to overriding the veto. Attached is a document by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities that analyzes the potential impact of a presidential veto and the President's statement pledging a veto.
