Luis is a recent graduate of California State University, Fresno where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and minor in Spanish. During his time at CSU Fresno he was involved in multiple campus clubs including serving as president of the Geography Club and secretary of the Study Abroad Club. Luis’s interests in traveling and languages allowed him to study abroad in Bilbao, Spain where he worked teaching conversational English to 14-16 year old Spanish children. He hopes to pursue a post graduate degree and eventually teach at the community college level.
Luis is from a small agricultural town called Huron on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley in California. Recalling one memory from his childhood while walking to school he would see sheet metal roofed shacks that would house most of the farm workers and their families. Even as a child he felt altruistic feelings wishing he could do something to ease their rough living conditions.
Luis hopes that as an intern for the CCRH Internship Program he can make an everlasting difference in the lives of others that are living in below average living accommodations while also gaining skills and experiences to later share with his students in the future.
