Mikhaela Alcasabas was born in Calamba, Philippines. At nine years old, she and her mother moved to Santa Rosa, California, where she currently resides. In Spring 2019, she graduated from Sonoma State University with a B.A. in Sociology and a Psychology minor.
She comes from a family of cooks and entrepreneurs who believe that the best part of success is sharing it with others. Her first-hand experience with the struggles of a developing country and of the immigrant experience motivated her to use her education to end social inequalities. She realized she had an interest in affordable housing during her senior seminar research on affordable and sustainable housing development trends. She is very excited about being a part of the CCRH Internship Program and plans to continue studying green building practices for affordable housing developments. Mikhaela believes that every problem is an opportunity to innovate, and with the right tools, she can help create healthier communities.
