
Mayra Guerra Cuesta
University: Portland State University
Mayra Guerra Cuesta was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador. For most of her life, she dreamed of moving abroad to pursue higher education. She decided to attend Portland State University in Portland, Oregon; the state in which she currently resides in. Mayra is a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics. During her second year of college, she gained interest in the affordable housing industry, leadering to her decision to pursue a business minor in real estate property management.

At Portland State University, Mayra has been involved in different fields across campus that has helped her identify her passion for creating safe spaces for POC students. As her job as a Resident Assistant in Portland State University Housing, she was able to connect with her community of students and ensuring a quality living experience for residents at the dorms.
​
As a result of her newfound interests, Mayra decided to apply for the CCRH Internship Program and was selected to work alongside Farmworker Housing Development Corporation, where she currently serves as a Jr. Housing Specialist.
When not at work or school, Mayra enjoys swimming, being outdoors, exploring food from as many different cultures as possible, and discovering new spots in Portland.
