Rosa Corcoles
Rosa Corcoles is a first-generation Mexican-American graduate, born and raised in Reedley, CA—one of the many agricultural cities in the Central San Joaquin Valley. In spring 2023, she graduated from California State University, Fresno with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Spanish with a focus on legal interpretation.
Throughout her undergraduate years, Rosa gravitated towards roles that put her in a position to help people around her. For several years, she worked as an English tutor at the Reading and Writing Center at Reedley College and specialized in ESL support. Rosa was also a member of the LGBTQ+ Safe Space Club during her time in community college, and when she transferred to CSU Fresno, she continued to help as a mentor to new students during club meetings and events. At CSU Fresno, Rosa was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, Fresno State’s chapter of the National Political Science Society.
Outside of school, Rosa has worked with the County of Fresno as an elections worker and interned with the CA Strategic Growth Council under their Community Resilience Centers program, which helped her continue to grow her interest in community development. She attributes her work experiences, academic, and community involvement as sources and fuel for her interest in equitability and the empowerment of marginalized communities.
Rosa is excited to be a part of the CCRH internship program and to be able to enter affordable housing. She hopes to take advantage of the valuable experience to further her knowledge, skills, and connections so that she can be better serve her local rural communities in her future career endeavors.
